Sophia is an alias for an 18-year-old Afghan girl who, despite the severe restrictions imposed on girls' education in Afghanistan, remains steadfast in her pursuit of knowledge. She is currently enrolled in Brave Generation Academy, an online institution based in Portugal, which provides her with the only viable opportunity to continue her A-Level high school studies.
Determined to chase her aspirations and break barriers, Sophia plans to become a software engineer upon graduation. She is passionate about where the intersection of technology and storytelling empower Afghan girls and social change. During her time with Docutribe, she has the goal to make a meaningful impact on her community where education is a privilege for girls and not a right. In a place where girls are banned from attending school and realizing their dreams, she hopes to amplify their voices through filmmaking and storytelling.
In her free time, Sophia enjoys reading, coding, and learning new languages, continuously expanding her knowledge and skills to shape a brighter future. Getting outside is not something she can do due to the unstable situation. It’s a bit difficult, though the only things she can do as hobbies are indoor activities like listening to music and watching movies.
